We purchased this gorgeous antique piece at an estate auction and it is just fabulous! It stands 9 1/2" high and I think it is made of bronze, could be brass, but a magnet does not stick, and the patina is wonderful. We removed the thermometer to replace the glass mercury piece and we found a number impressed behind the plate (see photo). The plate with the numbers is quite worn and it has on the right side a B and left side an F in fancy script. The letters are R & F, which was the Reaumur & Fahrenheit temperature scales that were originally being displayed. We replaced the mercury thermometer with an old glass one we had. The cotter pins that hold this in place is a little loose but I think it is in fantastic condition and very old. This is a superb example of Art Nouveau and a real find for a collector!
